We have set ourselves the ambitious goal of phasing out fossil fuels and achieving zero CO2 emissions in our production by 2025, so we are reviewing all stages of production and looking for ways to become more environmentally friendly. To achieve this goal, one of the most important measures is using renewable energy.
We also want to phase out fossil fuels completely by 2025, so we are looking for alternatives to gas. We have already done an analysis of suppliers and we are choosing the option that best meets the needs of the company, which we intend to start implementing in 2024.
We aim to reduce CO2 emissions both on our production side and on the side of our partners. We work in close cooperation with our partners to find solutions so that we can take a more sustainable path. Our goal is to reduce our footprint throughout the supply chain by at least 50% by 2030 (Areas 1, 2 and 3).
The sustainability strategy pays particular attention to beverage packaging, which is one of the factors contributing to environmental pollution. With the start of the packaging collection system in Lithuania, the situation with packaging handling has significantly improved. In Lithuania, over 90% of all packaging placed on the market is collected. We have set an ambitious goal to use 100% recycled, recyclable or reusable packaging by 2025.
Kalnapilio–Tauro Grupė is already making changes. In 2021, plastic beer bottles were replaced with 100% recycled plastic bottles, and we are continuing with these changes for our full range of beverages. Plastic packaging for bottles is changed to cardboard, and plastic packaging for cans to 100% recycled plastic. We have introduced new tetra packs with a stopper for Cido juice – this is the first solution in Europe to help reduce pollution.
